Many core features of the customer experience at Amazon depend on us using data responsibly and transparently. Our customer-centric approach has led us to follow privacy-by-design principles since our founding. We disclose in our privacy notice the types of data we collect and the limited circumstances in which we share customer data with third parties.\n\nWe support U.S. federal privacy legislation that requires transparency, access to one's own personal information, and the ability to delete personal information, and prohibits the sale of personal data without consent. In the absence of congressional action, we support well-crafted state laws that protect consumers' privacy, while continuing to allow for innovation.\n\n### Learn more about our commitment to protecting customer privacy\n\n![A man sits on a couch with his laptop open on his lap.](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/e385b60/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1620x1080+150+0/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2Fd5%2F8e%2F3afa1cef496ea40cbdcee54d28b5%2Fprivacyoption-3.jpg)\n\n- [Amazon is earning and maintaining customer trust through privacy](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/how-amazon-works/amazon-is-earning-and-maintaining-customer-trust-through-privacy)\n\n![An image of an Echo Show device sitting on a kitchen counter top.
