Amazon is donating and delivering emergency supplies to impacted communities.\n\nThe Gironde wildfires are France’s most severe in half a century, destroying roughly 104,000 acres before being contained. The massive wildfires took two lives, destroyed more than 200 homes, and forced more than 220,000 people to be evacuated across the region.\n\nHere’s how Amazon is helping.\n\n## Donating and delivering supplies\n\nAmazon is donating and delivering more than 80,000 emergency supplies through our nonprofit partners, including hygiene kits, blankets, cots, and sleeping bags from our Disaster Relief hub in Germany to the Gironde region.\n\nAmazon uses the same fast delivery network that gets packages to doorsteps every day to donate and deliver essential relief items to our nonprofit partners on the ground.\n\nAmazon is working closely with la [Croix-Rouge française](https://www.croix-rouge.fr/), [La Fédération Nationale de Protection Civile](https://www.protection-civile.org/), and le [Secours populaire français](https://www.secourspopulaire.fr/) to deliver aid to wildfire-affected communities in France.\n\n![Humanitarian aid distribution center with Amazon volunteer workers](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/37205cf/2147483647/strip/true/crop/5670x3780+525+0/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F67%2Fe1%2Fea63e59a4423b2d0eb7bd138b8bf%2Fatl7-0912.jpg)\n\n- [How Amazon’s Disaster Relief hubs help communities when every minute counts](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/amazon-disaster-relief-programs-hubs-portal)\n\n## Prioritizing safety\n\nOur top priority is ensuring the safety of our employees and partners. We have a 24/7 operation dedicated to providing alerts and up-to-date information when severe events like this occur to help inform our operational decisions.\n\n![Red Cross volunteer sorting packaged meals into cardboard boxes](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/b16668b/2147483647/strip/true/crop/2000x1125+0+0/resize/767x431!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F29%2Faa%2Ff15550724cd3b068e929b73ca413%2Fspekboom-9.jpg)\n\nAmazon operates Disaster Relief hubs in seven countries around the world to quickly respond to disasters when they strike.
