Amazon today announced a plan to provide Introductory and Advanced Placement (AP) computer science courses to more than 130 high schools in the New York City area.\n\n![Students at Monsignor Scanlan High School working on laptop computers as they learn about computer science.](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/1c6cb80/2147483647/strip/true/crop/2000x1333+0+0/resize/767x511!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2Fcf%2F20%2Fbb74f7b94bc8a874f3151b8b918c%2Fdsc-7602.jpg)\n*Amazon Future Engineer students at Monsignor Scanlan High School in the Bronx, NY*\n\nThe courses, supported by the company's [Amazon Future Engineer](https://www.amazonfutureengineer.com/) program, will take place in schools spread across all five New York City boroughs, including more than 30 schools in Queens, where Amazon plans to open one of its new headquarters.\n\n\"We want to help make sure more children across New York City gain the coding skills necessary to have successful careers in many fields,\" said Jeff Wilke, CEO Amazon worldwide consumer. \"We are excited that Amazon Future Engineer will immediately impact more than 130 schools and thousands of students who do not currently have access to computer science education. We will continue to invest in bringing these classes to more schools in New York City and across the U.S.\"\n\nWith Amazon Future Engineer's funding, the New York City high schools will offer Intro to Computer Science and AP Computer Science classes through the New York-based curriculum provider, Edhesive. Amazon's funding provides preparatory lessons, tutorials, and professional development for teachers; fully sequenced and paced digital curriculum for students; and live online support every day of the week for both teachers and students. And, all students participating in this program will receive a free membership to AWS Educate which provides them with free access to computing power in the AWS Cloud for their coding projects and content to learn about cloud computing.\n\n[Amazon Future Engineer is a childhood-to-career program](https://blog.aboutamazon.com/community/cracking-the-code) designed to encourage more than 10 million children and young adults to explore computer science each year. The program also provides, annually, 100 students with four-year $10,000 scholarships and guaranteed internships to gain work experience. \n\nAmazon Future Engineer is currently accepting applications for its programs, including high school. Interested schools, teachers, parents, and students should apply at [www.amazonfutureengineer.com](http://www.amazonfutureengineer.com/).\n\n## The list of New York City high schools is below:\n\n### Brooklyn\n\nAbraham Lincoln High School\nAcademy For Conservation And The Environment\nAcademy For Young Writers\nAcademy Of Urban Planning\nBedford Academy High School\nBeth Rivka High School\nBrooklyn High School For Law And Technology\nBrooklyn High School Of The Arts\nBrooklyn Lab School\nBrooklyn Laboratory Charter School\nBrooklyn Prospect Charter School\nBrooklyn School for Social Justice\nClara Barton High School\nCypress Hills Collegiate Preparatory School\nEast Williamsburg Scholars Academy\nEdward R Murrow High School\nEl Puente Academy For Peace And Justice\nGeorge Westinghouse High School\nHigh School For Public Service: Heroes Of Tomorrow\nInternational High School At Prospect Heights\nJames Madison High School\nMath Engineering And Science Academy Charter High School\nNew Utrecht High School\nNew Visions Chtr Hs-Adv Ma/Sci Iii\nNorthside Charter High School\nNycdoe -
