The floods have claimed more than 500 lives, with nearly 2,000 people still missing and many displaced. We are actively working with aid organizations to provide support and relief during this challenging time.\n\nHere's how Amazon is helping communities affected by the Nepal floods:\n\n## Supporting humanitarian relief agencies with cash donations and emergency supplies\n\nTo provide immediate relief, Amazon has made cash donations to two long-term, trusted partners, the [International Organization of Migration (IOM)](https://www.iom.int/) and the [World Food Programme](https://www.wfp.org/). We are assessing how we can meet additional urgent needs with the donation and delivery of essential relief items, including tents, thermal blankets, and solar lights.\n\n“The scale of destruction and loss of life is immense, and we want to help in every way we can,” said [Abe Diaz, head of Amazon's Disaster Relief](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/amazon-disaster-relief-how-it-works). “We’re coordinating closely with humanitarian organizations on the ground to deliver aid where it's needed given the logistical challenges.”\n\nFollowing the disaster, experts have warned that debris blocking river systems could trigger secondary flooding downstream, including in northern India. We're working with our local partner [DonateKart](https://www.donatekart.com/) in India to prepare relief supplies and response plans so we can act quickly if communities there are affected.\n\n## Mobilizing a network of Disaster Relief hubs\n\nWe have a 24/7 operation dedicated to providing alerts and up-to-date information when severe events like this occur to help inform our operational decisions.\n\nWhen needed, we can also draw on our three [Disaster Relief hubs](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/amazon-disaster-relief-programs-hubs-portal) in India, or our Disaster Relief hub network worldwide—stocked with tarps, toiletries, and other emergency supplies—so we can provide aid when and where it’s needed as quickly as possible.\n\nSince 2017, Amazon has donated and delivered more than 30 million essential supplies in response to more than 200 disasters around the world, including the [Venezuela earthquake](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/amazon-response-venezuela-earthquakes-2026) and [Türkiye and Syria earthquake.](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/how-amazon-is-helping-communities-impacted-by-the-earthquake-in-turkiye-and-syria)\n\nLearn more about [Amazon’s disaster relief efforts](https://www.aboutamazon.com/impact/community/disaster-relief).\n\n![A group of people stood among debris with a ruined building behind](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/20c98f2/2147483647/strip/true/crop/2000x1125+0+0/resize/767x431!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2Fd4%2F6d%2Fe92486e04bca844792242e3611c8%2Fframe-51.jpg)\n\nCommunities across Nepal remain isolated and in urgent need of humanitarian relief after flash floods and glacial landslides took more than 1,300 lives and devastated villages in the Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts. More than 5,000 people remain missing and at least 93,000 people have been impacted, according to the Nepal Red Cross Society.\n\nAs rescue operations continue in hard-to-reach locations, Amazon is making additional cash donations to nonprofits doing lifesaving work in the country and preparing emergency supplies for delivery at no cost to first responders at the center of relief efforts.\n\n“The scale of this disaster has left many families grieving, displaced, and uncertain about what comes next,\" said Helene Fors, IOM Chief of Mission in Nepal. \"Amazon's support comes at a critical moment, allowing us to provide assistance where it is most needed. We are grateful for Amazon's partnership and solidarity with the people of Nepal as communities begin the difficult process of recovery.\"\n\n## Cash donations to nonprofit partners in Nepal\n\n![The aftermath of flooding in Nepal, with overturned cars, ruined buildings](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/6bf96bf/2147483647/strip/true/crop/2000x1125+0+0/resize/767x431!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F2c%2Fff%2F6046edd343cd9f54398eb62985f4%2Fframe-53.jpg)\n\nAmazon's support has expanded to include additional cash donations to seven nonprofits, including:\n\n- [All Hands & Hearts](https://allhandsandhearts.org/)\n- [Group for Technical Assistance](https://gtafoundation.org.np/)\n- [IOM](https://www.iom.int/news/iom-and-amazon-partnership-aids-flood-affected-communities-nepal)\n- [One Heart Worldwide](https://oneheartworldwide.org/)\n- [REACT Disaster Response](https://www.re-act.org.uk/)\n- [Save the Children International](https://www.savethechildren.net/)\n- [World Food Programme](https://www.wfp.org/)\n\nThe cash donations support a wide range of work. All Hands & Hearts is cleaning up and restoring [20 schools in the Nuwakot](https://allhandsandhearts.org/our-work/programs/nepal-flood-relief) district so children can return to a degree of normalcy, while REACT is delivering generators, hygiene kits, and mosquito repellent via helicopter from Kathmandu to flood-affected communities.\n\nSave the Children is setting up mobile toilets and hand-washing supplies for families who lost their homes to the floods, Group for Technical Assistance is providing shelter and bedding, kitchen and household items, food, hygiene materials, and essential medicines, and One Heart Worldwide is using the funds to provide emergency relief to families with pregnant women, new mothers, and babies.\n\n![People cleaning up flooded streets](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/1e4beaa/2147483647/strip/true/crop/2000x1125+0+0/resize/767x431!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2Fbb%2F60%2Fae273a00405e97d01dcb1c9c4801%2Fframe-53-1.jpg)\n\n\"When people in Briddhim told our responders their most urgent need was power, we had generators on the ground within 48 hours. That kind of speed only works when partners can move as fast as we do. Amazon's rapid support means we can keep our volunteer responders working in Nepal and keep reaching the communities cut off by the floods,” said REACT’s CEO Toby Wicks.\n\n## Delivering emergency supplies\n\nIn addition to cash donations to support organizations at the center of the response, Amazon is preparing to donate and deliver emergency supplies to multiple organizations at no cost.\nMore than 43,000 supplies, including tents, blankets, and solar lights, are being readied for delivery in partnership with All Hands & Hearts, IFRC, Nepal Red Cross Society, IOM, and ShelterBox USA. We're also providing support to multiple communities impacted by flooding in India.\n\n![Two trucks with Amazon and charity logos transporting disaster relief items to Nepal](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/0bc06a9/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1600x901+0+0/resize/767x432!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F0c%2Fa1%2F1f9723de4fb9a94abe3cb5733c6d%2Fnepal-dr-1.jpg)\n\nOn August 26, catastrophic flash floods and mudslides struck Nepal, leaving more than 1,400 dead and thousands more missing. The three hardest-hit districts, Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading, saw widespread devastation. Our hearts are with everyone affected.\n\nAmazon has since donated and delivered more than 224,000 relief items to affected communities in Nepal. The shipment included blankets, tarps, towels, generators, adult diapers, KN95 masks, and child-friendly kits. These emergency supplies were delivered in Nepal through Amazon’s local partnership with the DonateKart Foundation, the Indian Red Cross, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Socities (IFRC).\n\n[Amazon employees](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/amazon-global-volunteering) packed 800 child-friendly kits containing backpacks, notebooks, toys, and coloring supplies. The kits are designed to provide a sense of normalcy for children displaced by the floods.\n\n![Amazon volunteers in orange t shirts fill backpacks with emergency supplies](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/3c357db/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1600x900+0+0/resize/767x431!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2Ff0%2F81%2F8bb5e6d04b90aeb003865ac1c6b5%2Fnepal-dr.jpg)\n\nAdditional donations included 4,700 sheltering items such as family tents, winterization materials, thermal blankets, and 3,444 solar lights with chargers. These are being distributed to displaced families by our partners International Organization for Migration (IOM), ShelterBox, and All Hands and Hearts.\n\n## Amazon's overall Nepal response\n\nAmazon also directed cash donations and product support to multiple organizations working on the ground.\n\nCash donations have gone to the World Food Programme for logistics and nutrition support, the International Organization for Migration for shelter for displaced families, Group for Technical Assistance for health needs, One Heart Worldwide for the needs of pregnant women and new mothers, All Hands and Hearts for cleanup and the rehabilitation of 20 schools, REACT Disaster Response for hygiene supplies, and Save the Children for 15 mobile sanitation stations.\n\n![Humanitarian aid distribution center with Amazon volunteer workers](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/37205cf/2147483647/strip/true/crop/5670x3780+525+0/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F67%2Fe1%2Fea63e59a4423b2d0eb7bd138b8bf%2Fatl7-0912.jpg)\n\n- [How Amazon’s Disaster Relief hubs help communities when every minute counts](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/amazon-disaster-relief-programs-hubs-portal)\n\n## How Amazon is supporting disaster relief in India this monsoon season\n\nThe Nepal response is part of Amazon's broader disaster relief work during the 2026 monsoon season. Since early July, Amazon has delivered over 270,000 relief items across 12 states in coordination with nonprofit and government partners.\n\nIn the state of Assam, which experienced its worst floods in six decades, more than 160,000 people were affected across 14 districts with over 2,000 homes damaged. Amazon delivered over 40,000 items including food and hygiene kits to the hardest-hit districts of Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Charaideo.","publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"About Amazon","url":"https://www.aboutamazon.com","sameAs":["https://x.com/amazonnews","https://www.linkedin.com/company/amazon","https://www.instagram.com/amazonnews"],"logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://assets.aboutamazon.com/bd/8f/88e7b0314cc2bd05b9de3155a0fe/amazon-news.svg"},"parentOrganization":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Amazon","url":"https://www.amazon.com","sameAs":["https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3884","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_(company)","https://x.com/Amazon"]}}}
