I've been doing comedy for almost 35 years. So, at this point, I'm comfortable enough to just go out and riff with people.”\n\n![collage of reese witherspoon, a lord of the rings character, and the back of roger federer's head as part of prime videos new entertainment announcements at upfronts 2024](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/696a331/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1494x996+0+63/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F4c%2Fa8%2F1fec597f4e978701ce26de622914%2Faa-may2024-upfront-pv-summary-standard-hero-v10-2000x1125.jpg)\n\n- [Prime Video: The 14 biggest TV series, films, and sports events coming in 2024 and 2025](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/entertainment/prime-video-new-tv-series-movies-announcements-2024)\n\n*The 1% Club*, which is [now streaming on Prime Video](https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B0D2JCNTDH/ref=atv_hm_hom_c_BWRWHq_brws_3_1?jic=8%7CEgRzdm9k), pits 100 contestants from across the country against one another as they compete for a $100,000 prize. In each episode, Oswalt asks 15 increasingly difficult, logic-based questions that favor common sense over book smarts in very clever and entertaining ways. For instance, the show starts out with a 90% question—one that 90 out of 100 people answer correctly—and builds toward the 1% question, which only 1 out of 100 people get right until there are two contestants who go head-to-head.\n\nRead on to learn what else Oswalt revealed about *The 1% Club*, game shows, and feeling smart.\n\n## Did you do a lot of improvisation when bantering with contestants?\n\nNothing was really scripted. I knew little factoids about them on my screen, but nothing that I said was scripted, you know? A couple of the little jokes I say, as they're doing the countdown, those are scripted. But everything else when I talked to contestants, you can't script that, because I don't know what they're going to say.\n\n## Was there ever the fear of angering a contestant or a joke falling flat?\n\nWell, I’ve also been in showbiz long enough to know that that’s what the editing bay is for. They can always cut it to make me look good.\n\n![Image of Prime Video 1% Club.](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/e358cd5/2147483647/strip/true/crop/3900x2600+0+0/resize/767x511!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F7a%2F20%2F1aab4dfd4ce0be57059f5b66a3c2%2Ftclb-s1-ut-106-240209-rosada-00324r2.jpg)\n\n## Some of the questions are designed to make you feel smart and others will stump you in embarrassing ways. Did you feel the same way? Were there questions that stumped you, too?\n\n![Emily Bader as Lady Jane Grey, Robyn Betteridge as Margaret Grey, Isabella Brownson as Katherine Grey and Anna Chancellor as Frances Grey in 'My Lady Jane' on Prime Video](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/832d0e2/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1688x1125+0+0/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F9a%2F35%2Fcecbbba14598adc35321a64dd17b%2Fhero-myladyjane-mljn-s1-ut-220929-prijon-01233rc-f-3000.jpg)\n\n- [Everything you need to know about ‘My Lady Jane,’ now streaming on Prime Video](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/entertainment/my-lady-jane-prime-video-release-date-trailer-photos)\n\nThere were 80% questions that stumped me. And then we would get to a 5% question and I knew the answer. It all depends. You don't know how your brain is going to work in each situation.\n\n## How do you approach that with contestants? Are any jokes off limits?\n\nI don't want to make fun of something that somebody can't control. But if somebody makes an honest mistake, I also don't want to make fun of people's mistakes and treat them like an idiot. It's more of, “We've all been there.” It's more of that kind of thing. But yeah, I don't think anything's off limits. It's just how you approach it.\n\n![Image of Prime Video 1% Club.](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/e5bddc8/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/767x431!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F5e%2Fd3%2Fa66e055a40ae9bf3e4409795c8ca%2Ftclb-s1-prshowbanner-mainkeyart-1920x1080-evrgrn-pv-final-en-us-prico.jpg)\n\n## Game shows are also fun because it’s something the whole family can watch. Did that aspect attract you to *The 1% Club* because you’re also a dad?\n\nOh, yeah. When the producers sent me the original British version, and we watched together as a family—my wife and our 14-year-old daughter—our daughter was getting into it and having a lot of fun. So that was really cool. It'd be really interesting to do a special, either a teen version of this or a college-student version. I feel like a lot of them would be really, really good at sussing out these answers and putting it together. I love *Jeopardy*. Love it. *Jeopardy* is great. Right? And I love watching the college and teen ones because I didn't realize I knew all this stuff. And, by the way, I did *Celebrity* *Jeopardy,* and the questions on teen *Jeopardy* are way harder than the ones on *Celebrity Jeopardy*.\n\n[Watch *The 1% Club* on Prime Video](https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B0D2JCNTDH/ref=atv_hm_hom_c_BWRWHq_brws_3_1?jic=8%7CEgRzdm9k).","publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"About Amazon","url":"https://www.aboutamazon.com","sameAs":["https://x.com/amazonnews","https://www.linkedin.com/company/amazon","https://www.instagram.com/amazonnews"],"logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://assets.aboutamazon.com/bd/8f/88e7b0314cc2bd05b9de3155a0fe/amazon-news.svg"},"parentOrganization":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Amazon","url":"https://www.amazon.com","sameAs":["https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3884","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_(company)","https://x.com/Amazon"]}}}
