Whatever the reason may be, it’s easy to make a return when that gift comes from Amazon. But, what if you don’t want the gift-giver to know you’re returning it?\n\n![Customer returning Amazon package at a return location](https://assets.aboutamazon.com/dims4/default/1cc640f/2147483647/strip/true/crop/1688x1125+156+0/resize/300x200!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.aboutamazon.com%2F12%2F7d%2F471f742744cbab26395ca02ab8b6%2Fabout-amazon-hero-returns-archive011-amazon-news-lj-082924-copy.jpg)\n\n- [How the returns process works at Amazon](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/retail/what-happens-to-amazon-returns)\n\nMost often, the gift-giver won’t know when you make a return since Amazon doesn’t send a notification to the purchaser (exceptions include items valued at more than $2,000).\n\nTo initiate a return, you’ll first need to head to the [Returns Center](https://www.amazon.com/returns) where you’ll be prompted to enter a 17-digit order number. You can easily find this number on the packing slip or the digital gift receipt. \n\nWhen making the return through the Returns Center, you’ll be issued a refund in the form of an Amazon.com Gift Card.\n\nWith so many great gifts in one place and a seamless shopping experience, it’s no surprise that people often turn to Amazon for their gift-giving needs.\n\nNext, learn all about [how to return a gift from Amazon](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/retail/amazon-gift-return).","publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"About Amazon","url":"https://www.aboutamazon.com","sameAs":["https://x.com/amazonnews","https://www.linkedin.com/company/amazon","https://www.instagram.com/amazonnews"],"logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://assets.aboutamazon.com/bd/8f/88e7b0314cc2bd05b9de3155a0fe/amazon-news.svg"},"parentOrganization":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Amazon","url":"https://www.amazon.com","sameAs":["https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3884","https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_(company)","https://x.com/Amazon"]}}}
