If you're "Lost," follow the scientific method to find your answer
In the Amazon Original series Lost in Oz, Dorothy Gale and her sidekick Toto set out to find Glinda the Good Witch, hoping that she’ll be able to send them back home to Kansas. In this video, Ashley Boettcher, the actress who voices Dorothy, hopes that all you young scientists will help her test out an experiment that her character once attempted in the animated series.
Ashley invites you into her top secret laboratory, where she invents and tests out some of the cool science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) ideas that they explore on Lost in Oz. In one episode of the show, Dorothy built a sand boat to help escape the Nome Kingdom and travel back to the Emerald City. When there wasn’t enough wind to fill the sails, Dorothy brought the wind with her. Hmm… could a boat really sail using a wind source that’s attached to the boat itself?
That’s precisely the question you’ll look into with this science experiment. You’ll use modeling, investigating, analyzing, and even Isaac Newton’s third law of motion to put your homemade boat to the test. Think it’ll sail? Watch to find out!
