Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network, and our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world. Our initial satellite constellation will include more than 3,200 spacecraft, which we began deploying in April 2025 when we sent our first 27 satellites into space. That mission was the first of more than 80 to deploy our constellation.

June 23, 2025: Amazon doubles its satellite fleet with successful second launch
Amazon Kuiper successful Atlas launchULA Atlas V rocket lifts off on June 23, 2025, with 27 Kuiper satellites on board.
United Launch Alliance (ULA) launched our second batch of Kuiper satellites at 6:54 a.m. EDT on June 23, 2025. Named KA-02 for our second Kuiper launch on an Atlas V rocket, the mission sent another 27 satellites into orbit, bringing the total number of Kuiper spacecraft launched to date to 54 satellites.
ULA deployed the satellites at an altitude of 280 miles (450 kilometers) above Earth, at which point the Kuiper team took over command of the mission from our 24/7 mission operations center in Redmond, Washington, completing routine vehicle health checks before ultimately raising the satellites to their assigned orbit of 392 miles (630 km) above Earth.
