In September 2016, we announced the plan to build our largest wind project to-date, Amazon Wind Farm Texas. A 253-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Scurry County, with more than 100 turbines, the project will generate 1,000,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind energy annually – enough to power almost 90,000 U.S. homes.

Over the past several years, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has enabled multiple utility-scale wind and solar farms in Indiana, Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina. Amazon Wind Farm Indiana – Fowler Ridge was AWS’s first renewable energy project – this 150 MW wind farm went into operation on January 1, 2016. Most recently, five additional solar farms went into production in Virginia at the end of 2017. These projects are part of AWS's long-term commitment to achieve 100% renewable energy usage for the AWS global infrastructure footprint.
