On the last day of military appreciation month, the Amazon Military Programs Team launched the first employee affinity chapter of Warriors@Amazon for veterans and military spouses in the fulfillment center network.
Members of the Military Programs team worked with DuPont fulfillment center (FC) General Manager, and former Navy SEAL, Stu Zurn to welcome over 250 veterans and military spouses to the Warriors@Amazon community. The team handed out Amazon Military t-shirts, which were made by Rags of Honor, a Chicago-based company that employs homeless veterans.
The Warriors@ chapter in DuPont will coordinate casual get-togethers, organize volunteer opportunities, and provide a support network for members of the military and their supporters. The Amazon Military team will launch Warriors@Amazon chapters across the U.S. and internationally in upcoming months.
This activity continues Amazon’s ongoing commitment to create a vibrant military community. In May 2016, Amazon pledged to hire 25,000 veterans and military spouses by 2021, and to train 10,000 more in cloud computing through AWS Educate.
