Key takeaways
- Starting October 1, 2026, all U.S. Amazon employees will have access to a new Employee Grocery Discount: 10% off groceries on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market Online, and 20% off in-store at Whole Foods Market and Daily Shop.
- The discount covers eligible groceries families buy regularly—from fresh produce and dairy to diapers, baby formula, cleaning supplies, and pet food—with no cap, no minimum purchase, and it is available from day one of employment.
- Groceries and everyday essentials are a regular expense for nearly everyone. The Employee Grocery Discount helps make everyday shopping even more affordable.
If there’s one thing nearly everyone has in common, it’s grocery shopping. It’s the most frequent purchase households make—several times a week, week after week. At Amazon, we’ve spent years making it easier, faster, and more affordable for customers to get groceries—from Same-Day Delivery in more than 2,300 U.S. cities and towns, to in-person at more than 550 Whole Foods Market stores, to the everyday essentials that make up one out of every three units sold on Amazon.com.
Starting October 1, every Amazon employee in the U.S. will have access to a new Employee Grocery Discount—whether they work at a fulfillment center, a Whole Foods Market store, a corporate office, or anywhere else across Amazon.
What the discount includes
The grocery discount gives all Amazon employees in the U.S. multiple ways to save, depending on how they prefer to shop:
- On Amazon.com: 10% off eligible fresh groceries, pantry staples, and everyday essentials sold and shipped by Amazon.
- Online through Whole Foods Market: 10% off eligible items ordered for delivery, including catering.
- In-store at Whole Foods Market and Daily Shop: 20% off the entire store, including the hot and salad bars (excludes gift cards and alcohol).
The discount applies to purchases made using the employee's Amazon account. There's no cap on the discount, no minimum purchase required, and it is available from day one of employment. The discount also stacks with other savings—Prime savings, coupons, Lightning Deals, Subscribe & Save, and more. For example, if an eligible item is already 10% off for Prime members, the grocery discount applies on top of the Prime-discounted price, saving our employees even more. Eligible categories go beyond perishables to include diapers, baby formula, cleaning supplies, pet food, and toiletries.
Why groceries

Groceries are one of the most frequent purchases people make. It’s the bill that comes due every week, and it adds up. We know our employees are shopping for groceries regularly—just like our customers are. When we looked at where we could make a meaningful difference in employees’ everyday lives, groceries rose to the top because of how often people buy them. Savings on purchases that are part of everyday life can add up to a meaningful difference over time.
The Employee Grocery Discount connects to the same grocery offering we’ve been building for customers. On Amazon.com, customers already shop nearly 3 million grocery and everyday essential items—from center-of-store staples like pantry items, snacks, and household goods to fresh produce, dairy, meat, and seafood. Whole Foods Market has more than 550 stores, with more than 100 new stores in development, including the expanding Daily Shop concept, designed for quick, everyday trips. Last year, we announced the addition of perishable groceries to Same-Day Delivery. Since introducing perishables into Same-Day Delivery in early 2025, perishables sales have grown by over 40 times, and now make up nine of the top ten most-ordered items for Same-Day Delivery where they're available. Items that carry Amazon’s Freshness Guarantee badge—available across Same-Day Delivery and Whole Foods Market Online—come with a promise: if it’s not up to standard, Amazon makes it right.
Whether an employee picks up dinner at the Whole Foods Market hot bar after work, orders diapers for Same-Day Delivery, or completes a full weekly grocery run online, the discount applies.
At Whole Foods Market, our purpose is to nourish people and the planet. I’m proud to see that purpose reflected in a benefit that reaches employees across Amazon. It’s another meaningful way we can invest in our people and help make the groceries they buy more affordable.
