At our fulfillment center outside of Seattle, we are always looking for ways to support our community. So when we saw a news story that students at nearby Rainier Beach High School were looking for support in the form of new or used musical instruments, we didn’t waste any time taking action. The music program had recently hired a new music teacher, but was very low on the number of instruments for the many kids who wanted to participate in music classes.

We quickly coordinated with our colleagues at one of our Phoenix-area fulfillment centers to secure dozens of brand-new musical instruments. Those products arrived in Seattle just two days later. We were glad we could add even more instruments from our local inventory, resulting in a collection of over 50 brand new instruments to donate to the students at Rainier Beach High School.

On Tuesday afternoon, some of my fellow Amazon associates and I set up all of the instruments in secrecy on a small stage in an auditorium at Rainier Beach High School—it was fun to know that just ahead was a really big surprise for the students.

It was awesome to see the loud and excited reaction of the over 110 students who had convened in the auditorium when we pulled back the curtain to reveal the instruments that now belonged to their music program. Instantly, students joined the Amazon team on stage to start playing music on the guitars, violins, saxophones, keyboards and many more instruments.

We were honored to surprise and delight the hard-working students at Rainier Beach High School and my team and I look forward to hearing their music for years to come!
