I was excited to recently speak at the FIRST Robotics Lego League Seattle Semi-Finals event. Together with FIRST Washington, Amazon welcomed nearly 300 young, curious minds to The Amazon Meeting Center to celebrate the teams’ work to solve problems relating to human animal interaction.
This was a great opportunity for Amazon to give back to the community, and to Amazonian families, many of whom had kids in the event. Dozens of Amazon employees volunteered their time over the weekend to support this event.
At Amazon, we know that the desire to learn and be curious is a principle best developed early. We are also passionate about supporting students’ interest in robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) because these fields of study encourage students to imagine, innovate, and pioneer – traits we value greatly here at Amazon. It was especially gratifying to see that half of the competitors were girls!
We are proud to encourage these scholars to pursue their passions and are looking forward to hopefully welcoming these young inventors to our own Amazon Robotics and technology teams someday.
