In between your shopping, take a minute to check out how our public policy team in DC is celebrating Prime Day! This week, they're welcoming to town representatives from each of our four customer sets –consumers, content creators, small sellers and enterprises that use AWS – where they'll head to Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and staff to tell their Amazon story.
The lineup includes entrepreneurs like Ben and Camille Arneberg, a married couple who started a housewares business last year on Amazon called Willow & Everett and are among the 70,000 sellers on Amazon with sales of more than $100,000 each year; bestselling author Hugh Howey who used Kindle Direct Publishing to reach his audience; Career Choice expert Juan Garcia; Director of Sustainability Kara Hurst and more.
"Our customer-obsessed, long-term and invention-driven approach extends to our policy efforts here in D.C. — whether it means advocating for long-term legal and regulatory flexibility that allows us to keep innovating for our customers, or simply sharing ideas about programs like Career Choice and our commitment to hiring veterans," wrote Vice President of Public Policy Brian Huseman in an Op-Ed today in The Hill. "Prime Day is a celebration of what we've been able to achieve both for and because of our customers, and we're excited today to bring the festivities to D.C."
