Q: When did you join Amazon? What is your current position in the company?
A: I joined Amazon in 2008 as an Area Manager at the mighty LEX1 (a fulfillment center in Lexington, Kentucky). My current position is the General Manager of DEN2 (a fulfillment center in Aurora, Colorado).
Q: How has your military background helped prepare you for your current job?
A: The leadership principles you embody and the experiences you gain in the Army translate very well to Amazon’s leadership principles and culture. Leading groups of amazing people with varied backgrounds and experiences in a fast-paced environment while delivering results—they’re the same in both places.
Q: How does Amazon support your career goals?
A: Amazon offers a wide variety of experiences and opportunities. I wanted to work for a growing company where I would get the opportunity to be around people focused on achieving something bigger than myself, and you get that here.
Q: What's the best thing about coming to work each day? Is there a "perk" to your job that might surprise people?
A: The best thing about Amazon is that you never have the same day twice. There is always a new challenge, problem to solve, or opportunity to go after. There are always new goals to achieve. We never settle, which pushes you to continue to improve.
