Many small business owners are facing unprecedented economic disruption and many people want to support them during this time. To help connect customers with local small businesses across the U.S., Amazon Handmade, our store for Makers selling handcrafted products, has launched a new shopping experience featuring a curated collection of items from U.S.-based Makers.
The new Amazon Handmade shopping experience features products from Makers across the six regions of the U.S.—Pacific, Rocky Mountains, Southwest, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast—and is curated so customers can shop locally from each region and at the state level. From handcrafted kitchen goods to pet supplies to beauty and grooming, customers can discover unique products shipped and sold directly from Makers around the country.
More than half of everything sold in Amazon’s stores comes from small and medium-sized businesses, including Makers selling in our Handmade store. Makers are typically micro-businesses – individuals working from home or companies small enough to continue operations while honoring social distancing guidelines. Both new and existing Makers are turning to Amazon Handmade as a way to keep their company running online, and reach new customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, since the beginning of the year Amazon Handmade has seen a 100% uptick in new Makers in its U.S. store compared to this time last year.
